INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons will look for a season sweep of the IUPUI Jaguars on Saturday afternoon, in a pre-Super Bowl meeting of the two Indiana Summit League schools.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
IUPUI comes into the Super Bowl-weekend matchup coming off of a 79-75 victory over Oakland in the Jungle, snapping a seven-game losing skid that started with IPFW's win over the two teams in early January.
In the victory, forward Christian Siakam scored a career-high 23 points, while Sean Esposito scored 18, Ian Chiles 15, and Alex Young 14. Siakam pulled down nine rebounds, as IUPUI out-rebounded the Grizzlies 36-to-33.
For the year, the team is led by NBA prospect Young, who averages 20.3 points per game, leading two others, Stephen Thomas (10.6) and Chiles (10.0) that average in double-figures. Siakam averages 8.2, while Lyonell Gaines chips in 7.2 per contest.
Young pulls down a team-best 6.2 rebounds, while Siakam grabs 5.7 and Gaines 4.8, as the Jaguars are out-rebounded by an average of one rebound per contest. Thomas has dished out 87 assists for the team lead, while Young leads the team with 26 blocks and 34 steals.
SERIES vs. IUPUI
The series against IUPUI is the longest current-running series for the Mastodons, as the teams have met 33 times, with the Jaguars holding a 24-9 lead in the all-time series, although the teams have split their last four meetings all-time, including a 72-67 Mastodon win in Fort Wayne earlier this sason.
EARLIER vs. IUPUI
The IPFW Mastodons toppled Summit League and I-69 rival IUPUI on Thursday evening, using a deep bench and another 20-point scoring output from Frank Gaines to topple the Jaguars 72-67.
Gaines scored a team-high 22 points, while Mario Hines and Justin Jordan scored 14 and 12, each off of the bench, as the Mastodon reserves scored 37 points. Over the last two games, IPFW's bench has out-scored its opponents' 77-18, while IUPUI's bench personnel scored just eight combined points.
Antwaun Boyd narrowly missed double figures with nine points, while dishing out a game-high five assists. Gaines and Boyd added six rebounds as IPFW had seven players with four or more rebounds, with the 'Dons out-rebounding the Jaguars 40-29.
LAST TIME OUT
IPFW junior guard Frank Gaines eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau for a career on Thursday evening, as the IPFW Mastodons were unable to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit, closing to within one in the second half, before the Leathernecks made 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch to clinch the 62-52 WIU win.
Frank Gaines scored a game-high 20 points, reaching the milestone with a baseline jumper with six minutes to play in the first half, as Mario Hines and Michael Kibiloski each scored a half-dozen. Kibiloski pulled down a team-best six rebounds, while three players, John Peckinpaugh, Antwaun Boyd, and Justin Jordan each had three assists.
Gaines, now with 1,010 career points, stands 11th on the school's career scoring list, needing six more to pass Brad Noll (1999-03) who ended his IPFW career with 1,015.
MASTODONS DRAW EASTERN KENTUCKY IN BRACKETBUSTERS
IPFW has drawn the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in the Mastodons' first ever season in the Sears BracketBusters Event.
Eastern Kentucky is 12-11 this season, and an even 5-5 in Ohio Valley Conference play. The teams have only one common opponent so far this year, as each of the squads have topped UT Martin - with the Mastodons winning by six and the Colonels by eight. The two teams have met twice all-time, splitting the two meetings. Eastern Kentucky won the first meeting in overtime 100-96 in Richmond, Ky. on January 15, 2002, before the Mastodons evened the score with a 79-76 win in Fort Wayne the next season.
EKU is led by Jaron Jones, a 6-5 senior guard out of Lexington, Ky. who is the only player on the team to average in double-figures at 17.0 points per game. Joshua Jones averages 9.4, while Eric Stutz, the team's tallest player at 6-8, averages 8.7 points and a team-best 5.1 rebounds per game.
HIGH SCORER
According to the latest NCAA Statistical rankings (2/3/12), IPFW junior Frank Gaines currently ranks 16th in the country in points per game, averaging 19.8 per contest. He has reached the 20-point plateau in 13 of the team's 22 games this season, including scoring a career-high 30 points against Western Illinois on January 7. In all, the Summit League has five scorers inside of the top-16 overall, with Oakland's Reggie Hamilton leading the league and is second in the country.
