Women's Tennis Dominates Glendale, 9-0

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The IPFW women's tennis started the week off with a win as the Mastodons defeated the Glendale Community College Gauchos, 9-0, in Glendale, Ariz., on Tuesday.
In doubles action, the IPFW pair of junior Anita Henestrosa and senior Alex Forysth had a perfect 8-0 win at the No. 2 position, while seniors Frederique Sunstrum and Raquel Vescovi only gave up a point to win the No. 3 slot, 8-1. The Mastodon tandem of freshman Marcy Huck and junior Caterina Kiefer won 8-2 at the No. 1 spot.
The 'Dons didn't let up once they started singles play, leading to a sweep of the Gauchos. Henestrosa (No. 1), Sunstrum (No. 4) and Kiefer (No. 5) all earned 6-0, 6-0 wins. At the No. 2 position, Vescovi picked up 6-1 wins, while Huck won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 slot, and Forsyth claimed No. 6, 6-1, 6-0.
The IPFW netters will return to action later this week when they head to Las Vegas, Nev., the first Summit League cluster of the season. On Thursday (March 15), the 'Dons will face the South Dakota Coyotes and the Western Illinois Leathernecks at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. (EST), respectively.
