STAN LYONS RESULTS
INDIANAPOLIS - The IPFW track and field team traveled down I-69 for one final tune-up meet before the conference championships, competing in the annual Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis on Saturday against host-school Butler and IUPUI, as sophomore Kaylin Taylor broke her own school record for the third time this season.
The school-record time of 1:05.48 in the 400-meter hurdles is sixth one-hundreths of a second faster than the time she put up last week at the Dave Rankin Invitational. Many other Mastodons picked up notable performances despite the spotty weather conditions.
The trio of Courtney Hodgen (13.80), Olivia Trimble (13.91) and Taylor (14.33) finished in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the 100 meter dash.
In the 200-meter race, Taylor posted a time of 27.72 to finish in second place to led the 'Dons in the event. Trimble (28.61) finished in third place, while Hodgen (28.84) and Nicole Urdahl (29.24) ended in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Emily Craig was the lone runner in the 400 meter dash, as she posted a time of 1:04.34.
Katy Moore managed a 1.55m in the high jump, and Theresa McHugh (38.60m) and Madelaine Baczynski (25.43m) posted the top-two distances in the women's javelin throw.
In dual meet team results, IPFW topped IUPUI 60-17, but fell to Butler 58-38.
Head coach Mike Fruchey and the Mastodons will now prep for the 2012 Summit League Championships (May 10-12) in Fargo, N.D.
