FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- IPFW played great baseball against one of the top teams in the Summit League for six innings on Friday afternoon, but a late scoring outbreak from Oral Roberts proved to be the difference as the Golden Eagles came firing back to record an 11-0 win over IPFW at Mastodon Field.

Chuck Weaver was lights out through six innings of baseball. The junior limited Oral Roberts to just one hit, but a grand slam from Bennett Pickar in the seventh shifted the momentum which ended in the Golden Eagles earning their 28th win of the season.

Weaver ended the day with eight strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work. He allowed six hits while walking three. All seven runs were earned. Drew Overman came in from the bullpen to finish the game. Overman had control issues as he walked five batters. He did record a strikeout late in the game.

Drew Bowen of Oral Roberts pitched a complete game gem. Bowen struck out nine Mastodons in his nine innings of work while only walking two batters. He limited IPFW to just four hits.

Bowen gave up two doubles early in the game, but he continued to grow stronger each inning. Malcolm White and Kristian Gayday were responsible for the doubles. Lucas Salerno also played well offensively for IPFW. He went 2-for-3 from the plate.

Oral Roberts scored four runs in the seventh off the grand slam and then added three in the eighth and four more in the ninth to pick up their 12th Summit League win of the season. IPFW is now 15-35 on the year with a 7-14 mark in league play.

These two teams will battle again tomorrow as the Mastodons host the Golden Eagles in a doubleheader beginning at noon. Game one will be a full nine innings, while game two will be knocked down to just seven.
