STARKVILLE, Miss. - IPFW sophomore shortstop Alex Bousquet has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Region Second Team.
The NFCA honored a total of 263 players, representing 129 different institutions. The teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees are eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-America Teams.
Bousquet, a graduate of Mishawaka Marian H.S., was named Second Team All-Summit League and batted .361 on the season, second-highest on the team, while hitting nine home runs and driving in 51 runs. She walked 34 times and was hit by pitch 21 more times - each single-season school records - for an on-base percentage of .516.
Her on-base percentage is the third highest in a season in school history, while her team-leading 51 runs scored set a new school record, 16 more than the previous mark, as her 99 total bases are the second-most in school history.
The Mastodons finished the 2012 season with a 45-14 record, a school-record for wins in a season, 16 more than the previous school record of 29.
