Mastodons Look to Keep Win Streak Alive on Sunday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Riding a two-game win streak, including a win over regionally ranked Miami (Ohio) on Friday, the IPFW Mastodons take on the Valparaiso Crusaders in a 6 p.m. kickoff at Hefner Field on Sunday in the program's first annual Food Bank Night.

FOOD HARVEST
The IPFW women's soccer team is hosting its first annual Food Drive to benefit the Community Harvest Food Bank. Fans can bring a non-perishable food item, or a donation to help benefit the local food bank.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Mastodons and Crusaders have met 11 times prior, and Valparaiso has had its run against the Mastodons, leading the pair with a 8-2-1 record, and have won the last five meetings between the two teams. IPFW took the first meeting of the squads on October 12, 2001 by a 1-0 score in Valparaiso, and after a 1-0 win over the Crusaders in 2006 trailed only 2-3-1 overall, before Valparaiso has won the last five, including a 4-2 win last year in northwest Indiana.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The 'Dons come into the game riding a two-game win streak with a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Evansville last Sunday, and a thrilling 1-0 double overtime win at regionally ranked Miami (Ohio) on Friday afternoon.
In the game against Miami, Dani Bishop scored the game-winner with 2:31 remaining in the second overtime when she took a pass from Rachel Good, and headed it past the RedHawk keeper for the golden-goal win.
Now with a 3-3 record, the Mastodons are led in scoring by defending Summit League Offensive Player of the Week Sydney Hoareau who has a pair of goals, both coming agianst the Purple Aces. Three players, Arianne Mason, Erin Gill, and Bishop have each scored once, while Tylar Allison has a team-best two assists with Rhea Proctor and Good adding one apiece.
Freshman goalkeeper Sam Pavlika picked up her first career shutout on Friday afternoon, and has been in goal for all of the team's 557-plus minutes this year, and has 26 saves and a goals against average of 0.81.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Valparaiso comes into the in-state meeting with IPFW with a 4-2-1 overall record, having won two in a row, both shutouts, over Western Michigan and Bowling Green. In the win over BGSU, Sarrah Ludwig, Janine Lytle, and Jordyn Ryfiak each found the back of the net, with junior keeper Kristen Manski picking up her fourth shutout of the season.
For the year, the Crusaders have scored nine goals, including three from Luisa Desario. Ludwig has two goals for Valparaiso, with Tara Ellis leading the team with two assists.
In goal, Manski has seen the entire 650 minutes for Valparaiso in goal, and has a 0.69 goals against average to go with 25 saves and four shutouts.
