
Mastodons Host Midweek Match vs Wright State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The IPFW women's volleyball team will return to the Gates Sports Center to face the Wright State Raiders on Tuesday, Sept. 4. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
The Wright State Raiders are still looking for their first win of the 2012 season as they enter tonight's contest with an overall record of 0-7. The team kicked off the year by participating in the Thunder Invitational hosted by Marshall. They faced the Herd, Miami and IUPUI and were swept in each match 3-0.
Wright State's only home match of the season was on Aug. 28 when they hosted Northern Kentucky. That contest once again ended in a sweep as Northern Kentucky recorded the 3-0 win.
The Raiders most recently competed in the First State Skyhawk Invitational in Martin, Tenn. They faced DePaul on Friday, falling 0-3, but they did win a set against UT Martin (1-3) before going the distance against Troy (2-3).
Heidi Splinter leads the team in kills with 63 and is tied for the team lead in service aces with five. Splinter is averaging 2.74 kills per set while also contributing with eight assists, 65 digs and three blocks.
Ashleight Lucco leads the team with 198 assists and Katie Glassmeyer is the team's dig leader at 104.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The all-time series between IPFW and Wright State is tied at 9-9. Wright State won the first six meetings, but the Mastodons have held the upper hand lately winning the last seven.
The first matchup between these two programs was back in 1982 as the Raiders claimed a 2-1 win. The Mastodons won the most recent matchup (3-0) in 2011.
FAST START
IPFW has more wins than any other team in the Summit League heading into Tuesday's contest against Wright State. They are currently on a five-game winning streak after winning the 2012 UIC Invitational. The 'Dons have only lost four sets all year. A 3-0 loss to Cleveland State is the only blemish on the record.
CAN YOU DIG IT?
Defensive Specialist Tessa McGill has reached a double figure dig total in every match this season. The senior is also the only IPFW player to record three service aces in one match.
BLOCK PARTY
Redshirt Freshman Hailie Ripley has made a significant impact at the net for IPFW early in the 2012 season. Ripley leads the team with 24 total blocks, with five being solo and 19 assists.
QUICK HITTERS
• IPFW won the 2012 UIC Invitational with 3-0 victories over Eastern Michigan, UIC and UT Arlington.
• Hailie Ripley and Haley Emenhiser were named to the All-Tournament Team for their high level of play in the UIC Invite.
• IPFW has won the last seven meetings against Wright State.
• Redshirt Freshman, Hailie Ripley has led the team in blocks during the last four matches.
• The Masotdons have not started a season this well since 2005 when the team opened up with an eight-game winning streak which turned into an overall record of 24-6.
• Hailie Ripley set a new career-high kill total against UT Arlington by recording 13 against the Mustangs.
• Kendall Wienkes reached a double figure kill total for the first time of the season against Eastern Michigan (12).
• Tessa McGill is seventh all-time in Summit League history with 1,723 career digs.
• Jessie Manwaring and Tessa McGill were named to the All-Tournament Team after guiding the Mastodons to a second place finish in the Hyatt Place Fort Wayne / IPFW Invitational last weekend.
• Tessa McGill set a school record for most digs in a three set match with 28 against the Murray State Racers.
• Tessa McGill was named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 27.
• IPFW was picked to finish second in the 2012 Summit League preseason poll. They received three first-place votes.
