Men's Basketball Closes Weekend against Kangaroos

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons will look to carry the momentum gained from Thursday night's thrilling win over the South Dakota Coyotes into Saturday evening, where the 'Dons play host to the Kansas City Kangaroos.

ABOUT IPFW
IPFW makes its way to the Memorial Coliseum looking to win its second straight game, and eighth in a row at home.
In the team's last game, a 62-60 win over the South Dakota Coyotes, Frank Gaines led three players in double-figure scoring with 14 points - all in the second half, while Luis Jacobo scored 13 and Joe Edwards 12. Mario Hines pulled down six rebounds, with Michael Kibiloski grabbing five.
For the year the team is led by Gaines who averages 18.5 per contest, third-best in the Summit League, with Jacobo also averaging in double-figures at 11.1 points per game. Four others - Hines, Kibiloski, Edwards, and Isaiah McCray - average between 8.5 and 5.4 points per game, each.
IPFW, which out-rebounds its opponents by four rebounds per game, is led by Hines who pulls down 5.9, with Gaines second on the squad at 4.3 boards per contest. Hines has a team-best 24 blocked shots, while McCray has 32 steals.
ABOUT KANSAS CITY
Kansas City comes into the weekend finale having lost 10 of their last 11 games, with the lone win coming on January 12 at South Dakota.
In the team's last game, an 81-68 loss at Oakland, Estan Tyler scored 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, and 4-of-7 from long range, while Nelson Kirksey added 10 points. Fred Chatmon scored seven while pulling down six rebounds, as the
Kangaroos were out-rebounded 31-to-22 in the contest.
Tyler leads the team with a scoring average of 11.4 points per game, with Thomas Staton second on the team at 11.1. Chatmon leads the team with a 7.2 rebound per game average, pacing the team that gets out-rebounded by an average of 1.7 rebounds per contest. Tyler also leads the team with a 3.4 assist-per-game average, with Chatmon leading the team in blocked shots - 25 - and Staton leading in steals with 17.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The IPFW Mastodons hold a narrow 6-5 lead in the all-time series with the Kansas City Kangaroos. In each of the first eight meetings, the home team proved victorious; however, the last three meetings have turned the tables, with the road team going undefeated, including a 76-73 IPFW win a season ago in Kansas City that propelled the squad into the Summit League Tournament.
