Women's Soccer Closes Regular Season on the Road

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Riding a current three-match win streak - all 1-0 wins - the IPFW Mastodons close out the 2013 regular season on Friday and Sunday, as the squad needs a win to clinch a spot into the Summit League Tournament a week later.
The Mastodons, currently sitting third in the league standings, can clinch a berth into the tournament - which will be held in Fort Wayne - with a win over North Dakota State or South Dakota State, or with a loss by Western Illinois on the road against Omaha and South Dakota.
IPFW is led by its defense, including sophomore goalkeeper Sam Pavlika, who has picked up three consecutive shutouts, tying the school's career shutout mark and breaking the single-season record, while also putting together three consecutive shutouts for the first time in program history. She has dropped her goals against average to 1.58 with the three conseuctive clean slates, while also stopping 86 shots on the year with five shutouts.
Offensively the team is led by freshmen Gaby Romo and Andie Lazzerini, who each have three goals, while Brooke Bishir has scored twice. Sydney Hoareau has given out two assists to lead the team, as seven others have one assist on the season.

The 7-9 Bison are led by Lauren Miller and Anisha Kinnarath, who each have scored seven goals, as the pair have combined for 14 of the team's 19 goals this season. Katie Tallas has two scores, while Tristyn Walczak, Meghan Johnston, and Mikayla Jacobson have each scored once. Miller leads the team with five assists, as her 19 total points puts her first on the team and third in the League. Amy Yang has two assists, while Kinnarath, Tallas, Steph Jacobson, Olivia Norman, Jaclyn Scanlan, and Sheri Fitzsimmons each have one.
Defensively Sierra Bonham has been in goal for nearly 1300 of the team's 1464 minutes this year, and has a 1.67 goals against average with 87 saves and a quartet of shutouts.

North Dakota State holds a 5-4-1 lead in the all time series between the teams; however, the Mastodons have a 3-2-1 record in the last six meetings, including sweeping the Bison a year ago, once by a 1-0 win in the regular season, and later a 2-1 overtime win in the first round of the Summit League Tournament.
IPFW won the first meeting between the teams in 2004, before the Bison ran off four wins in the next five meetings, including a win in the United Soccer Conference Championship in 2006.

Leading the pack offensively has been Alyssa Brazil, who has five goals, while Diana Potterveld and Caylee Costello have three goals apiece, while Darci Miller and Delaney Ratcliffe have scored twice.
