Women's Soccer Falls in Regular Season Finale at South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The IPFW women's soccer team fell 3-0 at South Dakota State in each program's regular season finale, as both teams, along with Denver and North Dakota State, will advance to the 2013 Summit League Tournament in Fort Wayne, Ind.
IPFW, now with a 6-11-1 overall record, and 3-3-1 record in league play, will be the tournament's fourth seed, and will face nationally ranked and top seeded Denver in the opening round of the tournament, while second seed South Dakota State will play third seed North Dakota State.
On a windy day that saw a south wind at 33 miles per hour, the Mastodons were out-shot 13-to-5; however, by just one (5-4) in the first half.
The match was a scoreless draw until just shy of the 29th minute of the match when the Jackrabbits' Megan Kingston scored her second goal of the season when Shelby Raper found Kingston in the box for the eventual game-winning score.
The remaining 15-plus minutes of the first half saw no scores, and three total shots, all from IPFW.
The Jackrabbits added a scored 14 minutes into the second half, and an insurance goal with five and a half minutes to play, as SDSU held on for the 3-0 victory.
Andie Lazzerini had a team-high two shots for IPFW, while Delia Soucie, Mayson Whitman, and Sydney Hoareau each had one.
IPFW goalkeeper Sam Pavlika picked up a half-dozen saves, while Nicole Inskeep, the SDSU keeper, had just one save in the match.
The Mastodons will face off against the Denver Pioneers in the first round of the Summit League Tournament, with the match time still to be announced.
