SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Bowling Green comes into the Saturday game having split their last five games, including wins over Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, and most recently, New Orleans.
In the team's Thursday win over the Privateers, A'uston Calhoun and Jordon Crawford each scored 16 points, while Chauncey Orr put in a dozen, as 11-of-12 players that saw action in the game reached the scoring column. Richaun Holmes pulled down 10 rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double after scoring nine points, while Crawford dished out a game-high eight points.
This season the Falcons are led by Calhoun and Crawford, who average 15.8 and 15.0 points per game, each. Orr is third on the team in scoring at 7.7 points per game, while Holmes averages 6.3, and the aforementioned quartet are the only players averaging more than four points per game this season.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE FALCONS
The last time these two teams met on the hardwood was December 21, 2004, an 86-70 Bowling Green win in which the Falcons led wire-to-wire.
The teams traded baskets early, before the Falcons used a 22-4 streak, including a specific 12-0 run to push ahead by 18. The margin reached single digits onces the rest of the way in the 16-point BGSU win.
IPFW's Jason Malone scored a team-high 22 points, while David Simon scored 13 and Quintin Carouthers 12. Simon pulled down a game-high seven rebounds, while also dishing out three assists and blocking a shot. Carouthers picked up a trio of steals.
Bowling Green was led by Josh Almanson who scored 22 points from his center position, as Josh Reimold scored 15, Steven Wright 14, and John Floyd 13. Wright dished out eight assists as Floyd gave out six helpers, with Wright leading the team with three steals.
ALL-TIME SERIES
IPFW and Bowling Green have met twice all-time, with each team winning at home. In 2003-04 the Mastodons topped the Falcons 81-75 at the Memorial Coliseum, before Bowling Green evened the record a year later by an 86-70 victory.

LATE SEASON PUSH
Over the last three seasons, IPFW senior Frank Gaines has been strong throughout the season; however, has been stellar in the last 10 games of the season. As a sophomore he played through his first 20 games of the season averaging 12.7 points; however, in the last 10 he averaged 19.1, driving his season average to 14.8. Last season after game 20 he was averaging 19.8, and erupted late with a 22.9 point per game average over the last 10. This season, over the last five games (the first five of ten guaranteed games to the season), he has been averaging 24.0 points per game, raising his scoring average from 18.0 to its current standing of 19.2.
LOW HALF
Twice this season the IPFW Mastodon defense has held an opponent to fewer than 20 points in a half, the first when the 'Dons held Western Illinois to just 19 points in the second half, and most recently against South Dakota when the Coyotes scored 17 first-half points. The Western Illinois result tied the school record for fewest points allowed in a second half, while the USD result is tied for the third fewest in first half, and any half history at IPFW.
