Groninger Continues to Dominate for IPFW

KELLER, Texas - IPFW sophomore Jacob Groninger continued his stellar play at the 2013 Summit League Championships, as the Mastodons look to improve on its standings in the third and final round of competition.
The Mastodons carded a second-round 330, giving them a two-round total of 645, as Omaha and IUPUI each sit 12 strokes ahead of the 'Dons. Kansas City leads the way in the field with a 593, while South Dakota shot a 597. South Dakota State (605), Western Illinois (606), and North Dakota State (615) and Oakland (615) round out the top five in the competition.
Groninger shot a second-round 77 to lead the team, while Dan Wert put up an 82. Bruno Carvalho shot a second-round 85, as Drake Devereux rounded out the scoring four with an 86. Oliver Gibson closed out the IPFW players in the field with a 93.
Over the two rounds, Groninger currently stands in a tie for third place in the field, two strokes out of second place, and three out of the top spot. Wert's 166 ties him for 38th in the field, while Carvalho (168 / tied for 40th), Gibson (171/43rd), and Devereux (177/44th) round out the Mastodons.
The squad looks to improve in the third and final day of competition on Wednesday.
