FARGO, N.D. - A one-out Hillary Kartman double drove home two runs, as the IPFW Mastodons topped the North Dakota State Bison by a 2-0 score, advancing to the championship game of the 2013 Summit League Softball Tournament.

Miranda Kramer improved to 23-7, striking out eight over seven innings of work, giving up just three hits as the only baserunners allowed in the game for the Bison, while Ashleigh Bousquet drew two walks for IPFW, including one intentional, as Kartman picked up the team's only hit in the game.

IPFW drew a walk from Ashleigh Bousquet in the first inning, and then went down in order for the next five innings. While IPFW struggled to get on base, the Bison picked up three hits, as a single and a passed ball put a runner in scoring position in the first, while in the fourth inning Amanda Grable singled for NDSU, but was thrown out attempting to steal second base.

In the fifth inning Alyssa Reina singled and stole second base with no outs, but a line out, strike out, and ground out ended the threat, as NDSU also put a runner on in the sixth inning when Logan Moreland struck out but reached on a wild pitch, but was thrown out a batter later.

IPFW opened the top of the sixth inning as Larissa Franklin reached on an error, advancing to second, before the Bison intentionally walked Ashleigh Bousquet to put a forceout at third base. After an infield pop-up, Kartman doubled to right-center field, scoring both of the runners and putting the Mastodons ahead 2-0.

The Bison rally attempt never materialized, as NDSU went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh on a ground out, pop out, and ground out.

North Dakota State will face the winner of today's South Dakota / Kansas City contest, with the Mastodons facing the winner of those three in the Championship Game at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Ellig Sports Complex.
