Women’s Tennis Ends Season with NCAA Tournament Appearance

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The IPFW women's tennis program ended the 2013 season on Friday, May 10 in the first round of the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional with a 4-0 loss to the Michigan Wolverines at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Michigan recorded an 8-1 win over IPFW in No. 3 Doubles and an 8-4 victory in No. 1 Doubles gave the Wolverines the doubles point. Marcy Huck and Kristine Lindal represented the Mastodons in No. 3 Doubles and the tandem of Anita Henestrosa and Caterina Kiefer took the loss in No. 1 Doubles. Miloslava Shustova and Theresa Neumeyr trailed Michigan 7-4 in No. 2 Doubles, yet the match ended unfinished.
Mimi Nguyen of Michigan recorded the first win of the match in singles competition (No. 6) by defeating Marcy Huck 6-1, 6-0. No. 99 Sarah Lee was the next Wolverine to earn a win as she defeated Kristine Lindal 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 Singles and the match came to an end after No. 30 Emina Bektas beat Anita Henestrosa 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 Singles.
Caterina Kiefer played well in her final match as a Mastodon in No. 2 Singles. She lost the first set 6-4, and was trailing 3-1 in the second set before Michigan earned the 4-0 victory.
Miloslava Shustova and Theresa Neumeyr were also in action for IPFW in the NCAA Tournament match against Michigan. Shustova was trailing 6-0, 5-1 in No. 4 Singles and Neumeyr was behind 6-1, 5-0 at No. 5 Singles.
