Scouting the Coyotes
South Dakota dropped their second straight Summit League game on Thursday as they fell 80-59 to IUPUI. The Coyotes got a game-high 18 points from Polly Harrington, who was only Coyote to reach double figures. Lisa Loeffler and Margaret McCloud scored nine points each. Leading scorer Nicole Seekamp took three shots and was held scoreless for the first time in her collegiate career. Seekamp played 22 minutes in her second game back from an ankle injury that forced her to miss two games.
The Coyotes are just 3-7 this season on the road, having lost three of their last four games away from Vermillion, with one of those loses came at the hands of No. 19 Nebraska, 87-53. South Dakota also went on the road earlier in the season to Iowa State, where they fell to the 18th ranked Cyclones 88-72.
All-Time Series
The series is tied 2-2 after the two sides have split the season series in each of the last two seasons. The home team has won all four games, with IPFW taking the final meeting of 2013, 71-64. The Coyotes won on their home court in January 82-51. The 'Dons won the first meeting between the two schools back on December 1, 2011 in the Gates Sports Center 65-63, the closest score in the series.
Elite Company...
Entering action this week, Amanda Hyde averages 23.1 points per game, but she does more than just shoot. Hyde's 4.5 assists per game ranks her sixth in the Summit League and puts her among elite company in the NCAA. Hyde is just one of two players in Division I women's basketball whom average at least 20.0 points and 4.5 assists per game. The only other players entering the weekend is Jennifer Schlott of Utah State.
