10/19/2014 12:18:00 AM | Men's Soccer
DENVER - The IPFW men's soccer team fell 2-0 at Denver in a Summit League matchup at CIBER Field on Saturday night.
For the third-consecutive match of his career, Cody Schweitzer made at least six saves, but the Mastodons (4-6-4, 2-2-0 Summit League) let up two unanswered goals against the Pioneers (8-5-1, 2-0-1 Summit League). The loss ends the IPFW streak of allowing one goal or less at six matches, dating back to the September 17 match against Cincinnati.
After fighting to a scoreless knot in the first half, IPFW let up a goal to Brian Hoyt in the 48th minute after he received a cross from Reagan Dunk just outside the box.
The Blue and White had a chance to tie the game just minutes later as Britt Watts took a shot in the 53rd minute, only to have it turned away from Denver's Ryan Massey. Jacob Murphy also managed a shot on goal during the match.
The Pioneers would secure the win following a goal from Eric Kronenberg in the 84th minute. Alex Underwood received a pass from Karsten Hanlin prior to crossing the ball into the box to Kronenberg for the goal.
For the match, IPFW held a 7-2 advantage in saves, while DU outshot the 'Dons 13-2.
The Mastodons travel to Wright State to take on the Raiders in a non-conference matchup. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m., at the Rinzler Student Sports Complex.
