Danielian Knocks in Goal for Mastodons in 3-1 Loss
10/21/2014 10:08:00 PM | Men's Soccer
DAYTON, Ohio - IPFW sophomore Stephen Danielian scored the team's only goal, cutting in half a Wright State 2-0 lead; however, that would be all the Mastodons would score in a 3-1 loss to the Wright State Raiders on Tuesday evening.
The loss drops IPFW to 4-7-4 on the season, while Wright State improves to 9-5-1. The non-League battle was the team's next to last of the season, as the Mastodons travel to Valparaiso on October 29 in the final non-League battle of the season.
The teams battled back and forth for the first 20 minutes, before Bryan Rockwell-Ashton snapped a shutout bid with a goal in the 23rd minute of the match. Peguy Ngatcha added a goal just under 20 minutes later to give the hosts a 2-0 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.
In the 74th minute, Danelian used a breakaway to put a shot past Wright State goalkeeper Craig Feehan for his second goal of the season. Three minutes later Avery Ball scored to give the match its 3-1 final score.
Wright State out-shot IPFW 14-to-5 in the loss, while four of Wright State's shots were on goal against just one shot on goal for the Mastodons. Cody Schweitzer picked up one save on the afternoon, while Feehan did not have a stop in his 90 minutes of action.
The Mastodons remain on the road, as the squad travels to Charleston, Illinois, to take on the Eastern Illinois Panthers in a key Summit League battle on October 26 at 2 p.m.
