Wrede Hosts A Block Party...
Anna Wrede was named the Summit League's co-Defensive Player of the Week with IUPUI's Beth Howard for their performances Nov. 3-9.
Wrede claims Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season and her career after helping the Mastodons to an undefeated (2-0) weekend in league play. She led all players in blocks in both matches. The middle hitter tallied five blocks in the sweep of South Dakota State and recorded nine, including the match-winner in the five-set win over Omaha. On the week, Wrede amassed 14 blocks, 12 block assists and two solo blocks, averaging 1.75 blocks per set, over 0.50 better than the league leader.
Spencer Keeps Going...and Going...and Going...
Emily Spencer has run her consecutive matches in double-digit kills to 50, a program record. Spencer's streak began on Sept. 17, 2013 against Eastern Michigan. She eclipsed former Mastodon Fabiana Souza's mark of 26 straight from Nov. 15, 2002 through Oct. 18, 2003. Spencer also had a streak of 24 matches to begin her career during the 2011 season. She also previously had a 23 consecutive match streak from Sept. 18, 2012 through Sept. 4, 2013.
