Women's Basketball Rumbles Past Grace In Home Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - A pair of 10-0 runs to start the first and second halves propelled the IPFW women's basketball team past Grace 90-51, as a part of IPFW's 3rd annual Fitness Day Challenge.
All 12 Mastodon players that entered the game had at least a point and a rebound, while nine of them made an assist.
Haley Seibert and KeShyra McCarver led all players with 16 points on the afternoon. McCarver also led the way with six rebounds as she connected on 6-of-7 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Keanna Gary scored in double-digits for the 'Dons with 10 points and five rebounds. Danielle Wilmoth scored a career-high nine points while Rachel Rinehart added nine of her own to go along with a game-high four assists.
As a team, IPFW shot 31-of-57 from the floor, 12-of-23 on three-point attempts, and 16-of-21 at the free throw line.
The Mastodons opened the game on a 10-0 run as Grace found itself in early foul trouble. After back-to-back baskets by the Lancers, the IPFW defense held them off the scoreboard for the next 6:26 of play. By then, the 'Dons led 30-7 with 8:36 to play in the first half. Grace out-scored the Mastodons 19-14 in the final eight minutes, but IPFW led at halftime 44-26.
The 'Dons 10-0 run to start the second half gave them a 38-point lead with 17:32 left in the game. IPFW led by as many as 39 in the second half as the Mastodons out-scored the Lancers 46-25 in the second half.
IPFW next faces Evansville in the Gates Center on November 21 for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
