'Dons Look For Season Sweep At South Dakota

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's basketball team will look to make it a season sweep over South Dakota when the Mastodons travel to Vermillion on February 13 for an 8 p.m. tip-off.

Scouting the Coyotes
After dropping their first four league games, South Dakota has won three of their last four games, with the lone loss coming to league leading South Dakota State. Last time out the Coyotes defeated Denver 88-67 in Vermillion as four South Dakota starters scored at least 14 points. Polly Harrington led all players with 18 points. Nicole Seekamp returned to the starting lineup and scored 17 points for the Coyotes. Raeshel Contreras had 15 points, three assists and three steals while Tia Hemiller totaled 14 points and eight assist to go with five boards.
The Coyotes are 8-1 at home this season, but have played just three league home games. Their lone home loss came against Western Illinois 81-71 on January 23. Seekamp has missed several games with an ankle injury, but still leads South Dakota averaging 14.1 points a game. The Coyotes are a well-rounded team as three players average double-digit scoring and four average at least 5.0 rebounds a game.
All-Time Series
After the win by IPFW earlier this season 96-78, the 'Dons now lead the series 3-2. The Mastodons back-and-forth win streak versus the Yotes after splitting the series in each of the first two seasons. The home team has won all five games. The Coyotes won on their home court last season 82-51. The 'Dons won the first meeting between the two schools back on December 1, 2011 in the Gates Sports Center 65-63, the closest score in the series.
Three-Point Streak...
The IPFW Mastodons have made a 3-point field goal in 458 straight contests, a stretch that ranks as the third longest active streak in NCAA Division I. Iowa State's streak is at the top of the list by making a 3-point field goal in 604 consecutive games. Sam Houston State is the only other team head of IPFW with 556 after Connecticut had their streak snapped vs. Notre Dame in the Big East Tournament last year at 505 games.
