FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW men's volleyball team begins a season-long five-match homestand with non-conference matches against Mount Olive on Friday and Barton on Saturday inside the Gates Sports Center.

SCOUTING THE TROJANS
Mount Olive started the season 1-6, but has won six of its last seven matches, including three straight.
The Trojans return All-Conference selection Angel Dache from their 22-6 team last season, when Mount Olive won the Conference Carolinas regular season championship. Dache leads the team in kills with 222 and is averaging 4.35 per set.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Barton is 6-9 this season, but has won three of its last four matches with the only loss coming to MIVA opponent Quincy.
Zach McCalla leads the Barton offense with 211 kills this season (3.40 per set) while Chad Stanback has recorded 158 (2.55 per set). Federico Pagliara has emerged as one of the Conference Carolinas top setters with 533 assists and libero Michael McMahon leads the league with 3.39 digs per set.
ALL-TIME SERIES
IPFW and Mount Olive have only met twice before, and it was during the 2012 season. The Mastodons have won both matches in the series, defeating the Trojans 3-1 on Jan. 27 followed by a straight set victory on Jan. 28.
This week's matchup will be the first-ever meeting between IPFW and Barton. The Bulldogs are in just their third year as a program.
HOME SWEET HOME
After playing eight of their first eleven matches on the road, the Mastodons will play nine of their next ten in front of their home fans in the Gates Sports Center.
RETURNING TO THE RANKINGS
After a three week absence, the Mastodons returned to the national rankings this week, coming in at No. 15 in the AVCA Top 15 Poll. The Mastodons join four other MIVA squads in the rankings. Loyola (Ill.) holds the No. 1 spot while Lewis, Ohio State, and Ball State follow at No. 12-14.
RIVERA RANKED IN TOP-10 IN ASSISTS
Junior setter Omar Rivera not only leads the MIVA with 11.37 assists per set, but currently ranks 4th nationally. In IPFW's upset win over No. 10 Lewis on Thursday, Rivera recorded a season-high 57 assists.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Senior outside hitter Eddie Rivera recorded his third double-double of the season, and 14th of his career, in IPFW's five-set win over No. 10 Lewis last Thursday. Rivera finished with a team-high 18 kills and a season-best 14 digs.
ROAD WARRIORS
Eight of IPFW's first 11 matches this season were played away from the Gates Sports Center and the Mastodons went an impressive 6-2 during that stretch.
