CHICAGO - The IPFW women's basketball team will make its first postseason tournament appearance since 2011, when the Mastodons travel to UIC for the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) with tip-off set for 8 p.m. (ET).

Scouting the Flames
UIC, who is 22-9 on the year, fell in the Horizon League semi-finals to Green Bay 68-59, after defeating Cleveland State in the quarterfinals. The squads have two common opponents on this year's schedule; both teams defeated SIUE and Detroit on the road. The Flames also defeated Detroit in their final regular season game at home.
UIC owns the nation's second largest turnaround with 13 more victories than the 2012-13 season. The Flames set the program record with 22 wins and tied the program record with 11 straight victories. UIC last participated in postseason play in 2006-07 when the Flames earned a trip to the WNIT. UIC fell in the first round of the 2007 WNIT to Minnesota, 97-54, in its first postseason appearance in school history.

The two teams have only met twice in program history, 2001 and 2004, with UIC winning both contests. UIC and IPFW last met on Feb. 7, 2004 when the Flames picked up a 91-68 road win. UIC also won the first meeting between the two schools, 71-53, on Dec. 17, 2001 in Chicago, in IPFW's final season a Division II school.

This is the second time in its Division I era that the IPFW women's basketball team will make a postseason tournament apperance. The 'Dons also participated in the WBI back in 2011, falling to Cleveland State 73-62 in the first round.
This is the 11th time in program history that the Mastodons have played in a postseason tournament, dating back to 1977, with an all-time record of 5-12.
Three-Point Streak...
The IPFW Mastodons have made a 3-point field goal in 464 straight contests, a stretch that ranks as the third longest active streak in NCAA Division I. Iowa State's streak is at the top of the list by making a 3-point field goal in 611 consecutive games. Sam Houston State is the only other team head of IPFW with 563 after Connecticut had their streak snapped vs. Notre Dame in the Big East Tournament last year at 505 games.
