RESULTS
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The IPFW track & field team split its two contests at the Butler Bulldog Opener in Indianapolis on Saturday.
Victoria Nida and Kaylin Taylor finished first and second in the 400-meter run, in times of 1:08.86 and 1:09.13, respectively.
Lizzy Frazee placed second in the javelin throw after a toss of 18.27 meters, with teammate Shalyn Renfrow taking fourth with a toss of 11.39 meters.
In the shot put, Kayla Zink placed second overall with a heave of 12.78 meters, coming on her final throw of the competition, as Frazee took fifth with a distance of 9.93 meters.
Brittany Beard placed sixth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:46.38, missing a school record by just four seconds, while Kayla Boyes finished 13th in a time of 4:52.73. The same pair took seventh and eighth in the 800-meter run, as Beard crossed the finish line in the two-lap race in a time of 2:26.07, while Boyes ran a time of 2:27.25.
Whitney Hampton led a quintet of Mastodons in the 100-meter dash, sprinting to a time of 13.23, while Kyley Marano finished a spot behind in a time of 13.51. Marano led the pair in the open 200, sprinting to a time of 27.57, placing second, while Hampton took fourth in a time of 28.40.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Marano, Taylor, Alexis Wygant, and Nida ran a time of 4:20.69, taking fourth in the field.
In the open 3,000-meter run, Andrea Bell placed 17th in a time of 10:48.44, as Rachel Zachar placed 26th in the event, crossing the finish line in a time of 11:08.05.
