Women's Tennis Falls in Summit League Final

DENVER - The IPFW women's tennis team fell in the Summit League Championship game to 71st ranked Denver Pioneers by a 4-0 score on Sunday afternoon.
The loss ends IPFW's season with an 18-10 overall record, while Denver improves to 14-8.
The Pioneers took the doubles point, as Denver got an 8-1 win over Miloslava Shustova and Emily Richardson at No. 2, before Carlota Trevino and Ella Norgren fell 8-3 at No. 3. The Mastodon pair of Marcy Huck and Mayu Sato were leading 7-6 when the match was ended with the Denver doubles point secured.
In singles, the Pioneers swept the Mastodons in the three matches that were played to completion, as Sofia Sorokina fell 6-0, 6-1 at No.1, followed by a 6-1, 6-1 loss by Norgren at No. 3.
The match was clinched by Denver at No. 2 singles, where Shustova fell in a tough match, 6-3, 6-2. At No. 1 singles, Sato took the first set 6-4, but was trailing 4-1 when the match was halted. At No. 5, Huck trailed 1-0, as only four courts were available after the matches moved indoors.
