Groninger Sits Atop Leaderboard After First Round

PEKIN, Ill. - After the first round of the 36-hole Bradley Invitational, IPFW men's golfer Jacob Groninger leads the field, shooting a 69 to lead the Mastodons who sit in fourth with a team score of 295.

Hosted by Bradley University at the par-72 Pekin Country Club, the course is being played at 6,832 yards. The host Braves hold a one-shot lead after the first round with a team score of 289.

For the second straight tournament Groninger carded a 69 in the opening round to lead the 47-player field by two strokes. In a tie for 20th are Daniel Shepard and Oliver Gibson, shooting rounds of 75, respectively. One shot back in a tie for 25th is Carter Dornseif, firing a 76 for the afternoon. Rounding out the team scoring for the Mastodons is Dan Wert who finished the round with a 77 to sit in a tie for 27th.

The final round of the Bradley Invitational will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start on April 6.
