Women's Tennis Closes Weekend with Big Win over IUPUI

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's tennis team closed its own Summit League cluster with a 6-1 win over the IUPUI Jaguars on Sunday morning, closing the three-day event with a 2-1 overall record.
The win improves IPFW to 12-8 on the season and 2-1 in Summit League action.
The Mastodons swept the Jaguars in doubles, winning 8-4 as Marcy Huck and Mayu Sato won at No. 1, while Miloslava Shustova and Emily Richardson combined for an 8-2 win at No. 2 pairs, giving the Mastodons the doubles point. For good measure, IPFW picked up an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles, with Carlota Trevino and Ella Norgren providing the victory for the Blue and White.
Norgren, whose doubles match was the last to finish, closed first in singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2, before Sorokina won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. A Sato 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 gave the squad its third singles point, and fourth of the match to give IPFW the win.
With the match decided, the Jaguars got their only point of the contest with a win at No. 3 singles, before Huck (6-4, 0-6, 10-4) and Trevino (6-1, 6-3) closed the match with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Mastodons close their home season on April 12 with a match against St. Bonaventure at 1 p.m.
