
Women's Volleyball Heads To Toledo For A Trio Of Matches

TOLEDO, Ohio - After playing its first home match of the season, the IPFW women's volleyball team heads back out on the road for the two-day Rocket Invitational hosted by Toledo beginning September 19.

Spencer Keeps going...and Going...and Going...
Emily Spencer has run her consecutive matches in double-digit kills to 32, a program record. Spencer's streak began on Sept. 17, 2013 against Eastern Michigan. She eclipsed former Mastodon Fabiana Souza's mark of 26 straight from Nov. 15, 2002 through Oct. 18, 2003. Spencer also had a streak of 24 matches to begin her career during the 2011 season. She also previously had a 23 consecutive match streak from Sept. 18, 2012 through Sept. 4, 2013.
Wrede Brings the Hammer...
Anna Wrede was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performances Sept. 8-14.
Wrede garners her first career Defensive Player of the Week honor after averaging over 0.60 blocks more than NCAA season leader. The junior middle hitter posted 14 blocks in back-to-back matches against Marshall and Kansas State, who was receiving votes in last week's AVCA Poll. Her 14 blocks in a single match are second-most in IPFW history and tie for sixth-most in Summit League history. The Seukendorf, Germany, native also became the first Mastodon in program history to record double-digit blocks in consecutive matches. For the week, Wrede totaled 34 blocks, 27 block assists and seven solo blocks, averaging 2.62 blocks per set. She also added eight kills, two digs and an assist.
Climbing the Career Ladder...
Not only is Emily Spencer climbing the IPFW career rankings in kills, she also currently ranks 2nd among all active women's volleyball players with 1,694 kills. Her total trails only Edina Begic of UALR. Spencer was one just six juniors in the top 50 active kill leaders at the end of the 2013 season.

Double Century Club...
On November 16, 2013 at home against North Dakota State, Emily Spencer became the 8th player in school history to amass 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Kendall Wienkes needs 173 kills, and 48 digs to join the club.
