Mastodons Unable to Overcome Halloween Hat Trick

TULSA, Okla. – Three first half goals were too much to overcome as the IPFW men's soccer team fell 4-1 at Oral Roberts on Saturday night.
The Mastodons let up an early goal to the Golden Eagles as Oral Roberts scored in the third minute of the match. Edgardo Mira received the ball in the box from Tarik Salkicic before beating Raphael Kotzock for the goal. ORU would earn a second goal just 10 minutes later after Mira scored once again. Salkicic put Oral Roberts up by three in the 36th minute following a penalty kick.
Just before halftime, Britt Watts put IPFW on the board after scoring on a penalty kick. Watts finished the match placing three shots on goal for the 'Dons.
Mira would put the match away in the second half as he finished off a hat trick on the 51st minute, putting Oral Roberts up by three goals.
Austin West earned two shots on goal for IPFW as Zach Tom, Darren Doyle, Bill Whitcomb, Darnell Parris, Oscar Uyamadu, and Thilo Körperich each earned an additional shot on goal. Kotzock finished the match with six saves as Jorge Trujillo saw the final 15 minutes of play.
The Mastodons return home for a non-league midweek match against Wright State on Tuesday, November 3, at 6 p.m.
