Redshirt-freshman John Konchar added 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Mastodons (6-1), who won their sixth consecutive contest, and are off to their best start to a season as a Division I program. Kayel Locke scored 13 points for the host Spartans (2-3). IPFW will conclude play in the exempt event on Sunday afternoon, November 29, against Navy of the Patriot League at the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The Mastodons led 15-9 at 9:20 following a jumper inside from redshirt-junior Brent Calhoun, and it was a 20-12 margin for the visitors at 5:54 on a layup by Konchar. UNCG cut it to 20-17 at 3:45 on a three-point field goal by Francis Alonso, but IPFW outscored the Spartans 7-3 to the first-half buzzer to lead 27-20 at the intermission, the final points of the period on a three-pointer from junior DeAngelo Stewart. Nine different Mastodons scored during the opening 20 minutes, led by six points on two three-pointers by junior Mo Evans.
IPFW continued its momentum to start the second half, as Evans opened with another three-pointer to make it 30-22 at 17:55. A pair of free throws by senior Joe Reed with 14:59 remaining made it 35-27, and two more charity tosses from Konchar had the Mastodons ahead 40-29 at 13:01. Senior Michael Calder nailed a three-pointer from the right wing with 11:50 to play that gave IPFW its largest lead at 46-33. A Calhoun basket inside at 5:48 had the visitors in front 55-45, before UNCG made a late 11-4 run to close to within 59-56 with just under a minute to play. Landis made two free throws with 52.3 seconds on the clock, before Konchar closed the game with 1-2 at the line with 21.5-seconds left and a fast break slam dunk at :09.
