
IPFW Plays Jacksonville, UNCG And Navy In North Carolina This Weekend

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- IPFW will play Jacksonville, UNCG and Navy during the Spartan Showcase hosted by UNCG at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina this weekend, November 27-29. The Mastodons (4-1) of second-year head coach Jon Coffman will open against Jacksonville (2-2), coached by former IPFW head coach Tony Jasick (2011-14), on Friday, Nov. 27 at 4:30 p.m., followed by UNCG on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m., before concluding the exempt event against Navy on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 12:30 p.m. The backcourt trio of junior Mo Evans (14.2), redshirt-senior Max Landis (13.2) and redshirt-freshman John Konchar (13.0 points), along with frontcourt senior Joe Reed (10.2) have led a balanced IPFW in scoring through the first five games.

The closely-played contest that featured 10 ties and 10 lead-changes was tied at 22-22 at the intermission, and Miami took its largest lead at 33-25 with 14:19 remaining. The Mastodons answered with nine-straight points to go back ahead, 34-33, at 10:55 behind four points from Joe Reed, a three-point field goal from Evans and a layup from John Konchar. The game was tied for the last time at 41-41 with 7:01 on the clock, and the Redhawks enjoyed their last advantage at 47-46 with 1:48 left. IPFW, however, finished strong by outscoring the hosts 11-6 over the final 1:26, including a combined 7-10 free throws over the final 37 seconds by Evans (4-6) and Max Landis (3-4). It was Konchar's jumper at 1:26 that put IPFW ahead for good.
