IPFW Defeats Otterbein 99-55 in Exhibition Matchup

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's basketball team opened the 2015-16 season with a 44-point victory over Otterbein Friday night, defeating the Cardinals 99-55 in exhibition action.
Six players reached double-figure scoring for the 'Dons, led by Mo Evans with 19 points, who was perfect for the night going 6-6 on field goals, including 4-4 from beyond the arc, and 3-3 on free throws. Michael Calder scored 14 points, Charles Ruise Jr. and John Konchar put up 12 and 11 points, respectively. Kason Harrell and Brent Calhoun added 10 points apiece.
Andrew Poulter and Joe Reed each had a team-high seven rebounds, while Max Landis and Calder put up a game-high three assists each. Konchar had a game-high four steals for the 'Dons.
The Mastodons opened up the first half with an 11-2 run over the Cardinals. After Otterbein cut IPFW's lead to 11-10, the 'Dons went on 10-0 run. IPFW held the Cardinals to 23 points and went into halftime with a 24-point lead.
The 'Dons came out in the second half with a dunk from Calhoun. Otterbein was unable to overcome IPFW offensively early in the second half, going scoreless for nearly five minutes. The Mastodons never trailed the Cardinals and closed out with 49 points from the bench.
IPFW went 37-of-73 (50.7%) from the field, 8-of-24 (33.3%) from long range, and 17-of-22 (77.3%) on free throws.
The Mastodons travel to Valparaiso where they will take on the Crusaders on November 13 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
