DENVER - Despite scoring the first point in sets one and two, the IPFW women's volleyball team was unable to fend off Summit League leader Denver, as the Mastodons fell to the Pioneers 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-16)
The 'Dons were led by Nicole Rightnowar with 10 kills in the match. Somer Johnson added eight while Lauren Hoffman finished with six. Madison Jaqua dished out a team-high 28 assists. Olivia Hahn paced the Mastodons with eight digs while Natalie Seiler led the team at the net with a match-high five blocks.
IPFW scored the opening point of the first set before Denver went on an 8-2 run to take the lead for good. The second set again saw the Mastodons win the first point but this time the Pioneers used a 15-3 stretch to win the frame.
The two sides exchanged points to begin the final set. Denver responded with the next three points to go up for good and eventually win the set and the match.
IPFW returns to Arnie Ball Court to close out the regular season with three straight home matches beginning with Western Illinois on November 10 for a 7 p.m. opening serve.
