Mastodons Defeat Chicago State at Memorial Coliseum 62-51

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After playing three games on the road, the IPFW women's basketball returned home to defeat Chicago State, 62-51, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum to break a six-game winless streak.
Kamilah Carter finished the game with a team-high 16 points, while Keanna Gary put up 11 points and seven rebounds. De'Jour Young pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and added nine points for the 'Dons. In all, dine different IPFW players scored in the game.
Josie Fisher had a team-high three assists and three steals, while Peyton Fallis also had three steals.
Chicago State scored the opening bucket of the game, but IPFW stormed back by going on a 15-2 run in the first quarter. KeShyra McCarver capped off the run as she beat the shot clock with a 3-pointer at the 3:48 mark to bring Mastodon's lead to 18-5 over the Cougars. Courtney Ogle closed out the first quarter as she connected from long range as time expired. The 'Dons went into the half with a 40-28 lead over Chicago State, despite the Cougars hitting a layup at the buzzer.
IPFW's largest lead of the game came in the third quarter as the Mastodons led Chicago State 49-30 at the 2:06 mark. Despite being outscored in the fourth period, the 'Dons held onto their lead thanks to nine points from Carter in the final period alone.
The Mastodons connected on 23-of-54 (42.6%) of their field goal attempts, including 4-of-17 (23.5%) from beyond the arc, and were 12-of-20 (60%) at free throw line.
IPFW is back on the court December 20 when it travels to Fairfield for a 2 p.m. tip.
