Sherif Earns First Summit League Player of the Week Honor of Career

ELMHURST, Ill. - IPFW sophomore Sara Sherif has been named the Summit League Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performances of the weekend of February 7-9.
Sherif swept through the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record in both singles and doubles.
Playing at No. 5 singles, Sherif won in straight sets against Evansville's Kennedy Craig with a 6-2, 6-3 win, while working with Alina Schibol to top Craig and Andjela Brguljan by a 6-3 score at No. 3 doubles. Later that Friday evening, she topped Oakland's Camille Hemond-Hill by a 6-1, 6-2 score, while she and Schibol won 7-5 over the Golden Grizzlies' Cam Sabourin and Juliana Guevara. Two days later against Wright State, she won 6-1, 6-4 over Elaine Cloern, while winning 6-4 in doubles with Schibol over Vanessa Madrigal and Megan Brdicka.
This season Sherif is 9-3 in singles, including a 5-1 mark in the spring, going 3-0 at No. 5 singles and 2-1 at No. 6. In doubles she is 8-7 overall, but has a 5-2 record in the spring - all with Schibol at No. 3 pairs.
The Mastodons return to action on Saturday, February 14 in a Valentine's Day meeting with the Northern Kentucky Norse at Empowered Sports Club at 2 p.m.
