2/27/2015 12:04:00 AM | Women's Basketball
OMAHA, Neb. - A tough offensive first half and 29 second half free throw attempts by Omaha were too much for the IPFW women's basketball team to overcome as the Mastodons fell 70-61. The 'Dons head into their season finale with a 9-19 overall record and a 3-12 record in the Summit League.

Mur Hagerman led the 'Dons with seven rebounds while Green led the team with a game- and career-high five steals. Kamilah Carter led the way with three steals and grabbed a career-high six rebounds.
IPFW opened the game with a layup from Hillary Moore, but the Mavericks responded with 14 straight points. Seibert knocked down a three at the 10:57 mark the end the Mastodon offensive drought. The 'Dons trailed by 19 points before making a run down the stretch, scoring the final six points of the first half as they trailed UNO 26-17 heading into the locker room.
After trading baskets to open the second half, IPFW scored 10 consecutive points, tying the game35-35 on another 3-pointer from Seibert at the 10:52 mark. Omaha answered quickly with back-to-back buckets before McCarver tied the game again connecting from downtown.
With the Mastodons trailing 48-46 and 5:50 to play, a 6-0 Maverick run extended their lead for good. The IPFW defense held UNO to only two field goals in the final 7:32, however the Mavs were able to convert on 21-of-24 at the free throw line over that span.
