2/28/2015 9:16:00 PM | Women's Basketball
TULSA, Okla. - A late first half run by Oral Roberts was too much for the IPFW women's basketball team to overcome as the Mastodons dropped their regular season finale 84-56. IPFW enters The Summit League Tournament with a 9-20 overall record and finishing the league season at 3-13.
Haley Seibert led the way with a game-high 23 points and a team-high three assists. Seibert connected on five buckets from long range and finished 6-of-16 from the field. Courtney Ogle led the Mastodons with seven rebounds to go along with nine points.
Brett Green added eight points and five rebounds. Rachel Rinehart did a little bit of everything for the 'Dons, finishing with six points, five rebounds, three assists, and a game-high two steals.
Oral Roberts took an early lead to start the game, but the Mastodons stormed back with three consecutive 3-pointers to tie the game 17-17 with 12 minutes to play. IPFW built a five-point lead as the Mastodon defense held the Golden Eagles without a field goal over a six-minute span.
Things began to go the Golden Eagles way from there as the Mastodons offense was unable to score in a four-minute stretch as ORU went on a 17-0 run and led 41-30 at halftime.
The Oral Roberts began the second half with a 21-5 advantage that the 'Dons were unable to recover from. The IPFW offense connected on 8-of-36 (22.2%) of its shots in the second half, as the Mastodons trailed by as much as 29 in the half.
IPFW now prepares for The Summit League Tournament where it will be the No. 8 seed and take on top seeded South Dakota on March 7 for a 1 p.m. ET tip-off. The tournament will be played at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
