
Mayu Sato Named Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - Defending Summit League Player of the Year Mayu Sato has been named the Summit League Women's Tennis Player of the Week following her performances against Missouri State and Oral Roberts over the past week.
Sato earned her second award of the season and fourth of her career after going 2-0 at both singles and doubles during the weekend, including notching her seventh straight Summit League singles win to open her IPFW career. She won in straight sets for both of her matches, including a 7-5, 6-2 win over Ema Turudija of Missouri State and 6-1, 6-0 over Andrada Gordan of Oral Roberts.
In doubles she teamed with Marcy Huck to win 6-3 over Turudija and Miranda Poile of Missouri State, and 8-3 over Marizzane Bouwer and Brenda Mercado Jove of Oral Roberts.
Sato is 22-7 this season in singles matches, including a 14-4 record at No. 1 singles during the spring, while sitting at 18-8 in doubles, 10-6 during the dual match season.
The Mastodons, now 13-5 on the season and 1-0 in league play, host Ball State and Aquinas (Mich.) on the weekend, the Cardinals and Mastodons facing off at 2 p.m. and Aquinas starting at 7 p.m.
