
Solid Finish for Track & Field on Final Day of Aztec Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – IPFW track and field wrapped up its first weekend of the outdoor season at the third and final day of the Aztec Invitational on Saturday. The three-day meet, hosted by San Diego State, took place on at the SDSU sports deck on campus in sunny and unusually warm San Diego, Calif.
The final day served as another strong day for the 'Dons. Fresh off breaking the school record in the event on Friday with a time of 48.52, the IPFW 4x100 meter relay team of Whitney Hampton, Sara Crawford, Kyley Marano and Kiawna Cottrell had an other crack at their own record, this time coming up just short with a time of 49.01.
Freshman Jenna Quillen, who competed in the grueling and demanding heptathlon on Thursday and Friday, took a stab at the 100-meter hurdles and clocked in a time of 17.84.
Sophomores Hampton and Crawford ha another go-round in the 100-meter dash, with the pair recording times of 13.30 and 13.31, respectively.
Fellow sophomore Brittany Beard turned in another top-10 finish on the weekend, this time in the 800-meter run as she recorded a time of 2:13.28 to earn eighth place. The performance came the day after Beard broke the school record in the 1,500 meter run en route to a seventh place finish in the event.
In the 400-meter race, Tori Nida posted a time of 1:01.98, while Alexis Wygant came in with a time of 1:02.61 and Marano with a mark of 1:03.08.
The 'Dons are back in action next weekend at the Miami of Ohio Invitational on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4.
