Women's Soccer Hosts Broncos in 2015 Home Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's soccer team will look to erase an 0-2 start on Friday evening with the program's 2015 home opener against the Western Michigan Broncos in a 5 p.m. first touch at the Hefner Soccer Complex.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW comes into its 2015 home opener in the middle of a stretch of three games against opponents from the Mid-American Conference.,
In their last game, the Mastodons gave up a hard-luck goal in the 65th minute of the game, and then fell victim to a counter from Bowling Green after an offensive push, giving the Falcons a 2-0 advantage, before the hosts saw a third goal go into the back of the net to give the match its 3-0 final score.
For the season, the Mastodons have a goal from sophomore Kallianne Mogler, and assists from both Rachel Good and Andie Lazzerini. Sophomore goalkeeper Kiley Dunning, who has been between the pipes for 167 minutes of 180 team minutes this season, and has 10 saves over the two matches.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
Western Michigan comes into the game after falling to 14th ranked Wisconsin on Friday, August 21 in Madison, Wisconsin.,
In the game, the Badgers struck in the second half have after Bronco goalkeeper Stephanie Heber was unable to handle the ball, and was picked up and put into the goal to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Nearly 14 minutes later Western Michigan answered when Olivia Vollmers finished an attempt started by a corner kick, knotting up the score at one goal apiece. The teams spent the remaining 10 minutes of regulation, and the first ten minutes of overtime before Wisconsin was able to use a flick off of a throw-in to end the match.
Western Michigan was out-shot 19-to-5 in the match, and the Badgers also had a 7-to-2 advantage in corner kicks. Heber had a match-high four saves, while Irene Young and Liz Abro each had an assist on the match.
LAST MEETING
These two teams have met once prior, on September 26, 2004. In that game, the teams went into the halftime locker room knotted in a scoreless battle.
Twenty minutes into the second half the scoreless streak ended with a goal ,from the Broncos off of a direct kick. Western Michigan scored again 10 minutes later, and the third goal came ten minutes after the second, giving the Broncos their 3-0 win.
Western Michigan out-shot IPFW 21-6, and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Current Scottish National Team goalkeeper Shannon Lynn picked up eight saves for IPFW in picking up the loss.,
