8/30/2015 5:59:00 PM | Men's Soccer
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Tempers began to flair in the second half of the match between IPFW men's soccer and Western Michigan, as the Mastodons fell to the Broncos 1-0 off a free kick Sunday afternoon. In a match which saw five yellow cards, three of which on Western Michigan, the sole card on the Mastodon's Austin West gave the Broncos a free kick from five yards off the box. WMU's Nick Wysong took the kick, placing it just past Raphael Kotzock's right side.
The Blue and White fell to 0-2-0 while Western Michigan improved to 2-0-0. IPFW edged the Broncos in shots, 9-8, including a 4-3 advantage with shots on goal. Unfortunately for the 'Dons, the Bronco goalkeeper managed four stops to preserve the clean sheet.
Both Corey Tom and Jacob Murphy got off two shots each, while Drake Bowers and Kyle Hoagland added a shot on goal. Kotzock finished the match with two saves.
