Men's Golf Begins Season In Illinois

NORMAL, Ill. - The IPFW men's golf team begins its 2015-16 season at the two-day D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, September 13 and 14. Sunday's round will be a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start while Monday will be a 9:45 a.m. shotgun start.

COMPETING TEAMS
IPFW will compete against 16 other teams. The Mastodons and host Redbirds will be joined by: Bradley, Butler, Central Arkansas, Detroit, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Evansville, Missouri State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Oakland, Southern Illinois, SIUE, Texas-Rio Grande Valley, and Western Illinois.
THE COURSE
The Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University was designed in 1962 by golf course architect Robert Bruce Harris. It was originally designed with a regulation length 9 hole course along the outside edges of the property with a shorter executive length 9 hole course in the middle. The course opened in May 1964 with University President Robert Bone hitting the first shot. In September 2007 the golf course was renamed to Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State in honor of DA and his many contributions to the ISU Men's and Women's Golf Teams, the golf course, and the university in general.
