9/29/2015 9:49:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
INDIANAPOLIS - In a rare Tuesday night Summit League match, the IPFW women's volleyball team had a tough night on the court as it fell to IUPUI 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-12).
Lauren Hoffman, Nicole Rightnowar, and Somer Johnson all tied for a team-high seven kills on the night. Sarah Heckman capped off the match with four kills while Natalie Seiler added three for the Mastodons.
Madison Jaqua led the team with a match-high 24 assists and tied Olivia Hahn with a team-high eight digs. Heckman led the 'Dons at the net with a pair of blocks.
IUPUI scored the opening point of the first set, as IPFW was unable to overcome the early deficit. With the Mastodons trailing 4-3, the Jags used a 7-1 stretch to push them to the first-set victory.
IPFW trailed early in set number two before a three-point swing in the Mastodon's favor gave them a 5-4 advantage. The 'Dons followed by pushing their lead to 8-6 on a kill from Rightnowar. The Jags came back, scoring four straight to regain the lead. The Mastodons cut the IUPUI lead to one, 13-12, but a three-point run by the Jaguars put the set out of reach.
The 'Dons scored the opening point of the third set, but a 4-0 IUPUI rally gave them a lead the Mastodons were unable to battle back from down the stretch.
IPFW returns to the court on October 2 for an 8 p.m. match at Western Illinois.
