
No. 20 IPFW Plays On The Road At Omaha On Saturday Afternoon

OMAHA, Neb. -- IPFW, ranked No. 20 in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, will play its third consecutive Summit League men's basketball road game at Omaha on Saturday afternoon, January 16, at Baxter Arena in Nebraska beginning at 2 p.m. ET. The Mastodons (14-5, 3-1) of second-year head coach Jon Coffman have been led in scoring by redshirt-senior Max Landis/Indianapolis (16.3), redshirt-freshman John Konchar/Chicago, Ill. (11.9) and senior Joe Reed/Greenwood (10.5). The Mavericks (12-6, 4-0) are currently in first place in the league standings and coached by Derrin Hansen, who is in his 11th season. Omaha has four scoring in double-figures, including seniors Devin Patterson (17.7) and Jake White (16.0), along with sophomore Tre'Shawn Thurman (14.4) and junior Tra-Deon Hollins (10.7).

Last Time Out
Landis scored 23 points, while Konchar had a double-double with 22 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, but IPFW dropped a 92-76 Summit League road game at South Dakota State. SDSU scored the first eight points of the contest to lead 8-0 at 17:10. The Mastodons battled back to tie it at 13-13 with 11:48 on the clock, getting a pair of three-point field goals from Michael Calder, along with four quick points from Brent Calhoun and an old-fashioned three-point play by Konchar. It was tied at 20-20, before the Mastodons scored seven-straight points to lead 27-20 at 7:28, getting five quick points from Landis. It was still tied at 34-34 following a pair of free throws from Reed, but the Jackrabbits led 39-38 at halftime, despite a late three-pointer by Landis. IPFW started the second half strong and led 46-43 at 18:13 after a jumper by Konchar. SDSU, however, used a 12-1 run to lead 55-47 at 14:21. The Jackrabbits stretched their advantage to 67-54 with 10:40 remaining, before the Mastodons battled back with a 15-6 run to close to within 73-69 at 6:24. Kason Harrell had two three-pointers during the run, while Reed scored six quick points, as well. That was as close as it would get, though, as SDSU finished the game by outscoring its opposition, 19-7.
Landis led IPFW with his 23 points, making 5-11 three-pointers, tying his career-high with five rebounds along with a game-high five assists. Konchar added his 22 points and game-high 13 rebounds for his fourth collegiate double-double. Reed finished with 11 points and five rebounds for the Mastodons, while Calder had nine points and Harrell contributed seven points, off the bench. IPFW shot 35% (23-66) from the field, including 41% (12-29) on three-pointers and 72% (18-25) at the free throw line.
