FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Despite three student-athletes with double-digit kills, the IPFW men's volleyball team fell, 3-0, to Harvard in a tough home match (25-27, 22-25, 21-25).
Andrew Sellan led the 'Dons with 13 kills, while Tony Price and Graydon Schoeder each earned double-digit kills, going 11 and 10, respectively. Schroeder's 10 kills set a new career high for the freshman, while he hit .600 for the match.
The Mastodons led the Crimson, 5-4, early in the first set, but Harvard quickly tied it up and took control. IPFW trailed 12-9 midway through the set, before going on a 5-1 run to lead Harvard, 14-13. The teams went point-for-point, but Harvard ultimately took the first set 27-25.
Harvard came out strong in the second set going on a 12-5 run, but the Mastodons were able to get within two, 20-18, with a pair of kills from Price and a third from Smalter. IPFW pressed Harvard in the final moments of the set, but it was not enough to overcome the Crimson.
The Mastodons fought to make a comeback as they went on a 3-0 run to open up the third set. Harvard took the lead, 7-6, and kept it to close out the set 25-21, and the match, 3-0.
