
No. 23 IPFW Hosts Western Illinois In Summit League Action Sunday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- IPFW, ranked No. 23 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, will welcome Western Illinois University in Summit League men's basketball action Sunday, January 31, at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center on campus in Fort Wayne beginning at 2 p.m. The IPFW coaching staff is participating in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Awareness Week that culminates with the afternoon contest. The Mastodons (17-6, 6-2 Summit League) of second-year head coach Jon Coffman are led in scoring by redshirt-senior Max Landis/Indianapolis (17.7), redshirt-freshman John Konchar/Chicago, Ill. (12.7) and senior Joe Reed/Greenwood (10.5). The Leathernecks are coached by head coach Billy Wright, who is in his second season, and are led in scoring by junior Garret Covington (17.1) and senior J.C. Fuller (14.2).

The 2016 Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness week runs through January 31. Suits and Sneakers is a national Coaches vs. Cancer event that is designed to raise awareness about the fight against cancer and the American Cancer Society by encouraging member coaches and their coaching staffs to wear sneakers with their suits at games held that weekend to show support for the Coaches vs. Cancer program. By wearing sneakers, participating coaches help raise awareness about cancer and the importance that nutrition and physical activity play in reducing one's risk of the disease. Additionally, this weekend helps promote the American Cancer Society as a place for people facing cancer to turn for free information, day-to-day help, and emotional support.
