Murphy Finds The Back Of The Net Twice In 3-1 Win Over Oral Roberts

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A pair of goals by Jacob Murphy helped Fort Wayne men's soccer earn their first Summit League win of the year on Saturday (Oct. 1) evening. The Mastodons used a 3-1 decision over Oral Roberts to pick up the league victory at the Hefner Soccer Complex.

The 'Dons took the lead for good in the 28^th minute. Oscar Uyamadu finished from about 10 yards in front of the goal for his sixth goal of the season. Will Hunt earned an assist on the goal thanks to a pass that found Uyamadu with plenty of room to operate.

Fort Wayne made it 2-0 in the 53^rd minute. Uyamadu and Murphy raced down the field in a breakaway. Uyamadu decided to pass to his right and Murphy followed with a shot and a goal to reward the decision.

Oral Roberts scored their only goal of the game with 13 minutes left in the game. Junior Chavez headed in a free kick from Santiago Riveros.

It didn't take long for Fort Wayne to put their lead back to two goals. Murphy scored his second goal of the game on a tally assisted by Edel Ensaldo Bustos. The goal came with just under eight minutes left. It all but iced the match in favor of the Mastodons. Murphy now owns six goals on the season.

Oral Roberts falls to 4-5-1 (1-1-0 Summit) with the loss. Fort Wayne moves to 6-4-0 (1-1-0 Summit) with the win. The 'Dons are back in action on Tuesday at Detroit Mercy in a non-conference contest. Kickoff in the Motor City is set for 3 p.m.
