
Bronnenberg Records Hole-In-One During Opening Round

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Keegan Bronnenberg pulled off a rarity in the world of golf, dunking a hole-in-one on the par-3, No. 16 during the opening round of the WKU Kenny Perry Invitational. Bronnenberg's ace helped the Fort Wayne men's golf team to finish the day in ninth place after two rounds with scores of 302-302=604.
Hosted by Western Kentucky at the par-72 The Club at Olde Stone, the tournament is being played at 7,219 yards. Eastern Kentucky leads the 12-team field by five shots with a 571 through 36 holes. Billy Tom Sargent from Western Kentucky holds a one-shot lead over the 69-player field with 3-under-par 139.
Fort Wayne trails seventh place Southern Mississippi and Samford by two shots and 11 back of sixth place Kentucky.
Devin Jenkins led the Mastodons for the day, shooting a 1-over-par 73 during round one to finish with a 75 for a 148 and tie for 22nd. Jenkins recorded six birdies on the day, including four during the first round. One stroke back in a tie for 27th is Cody White with scores of 74 and 75. Ending the day tied for 36th is Zach Schroeder, shooting rounds of 76-75=151.
In only his third collegiate tournament, Bronnenberg carded his hole-in-one on the 183-yard, par-3 hole before making three birdies in the second round to finish tied for 56th with an 80-77=157. David Watterson is also tied for 56th after shooting scores of 79-78=157.
The final round of the WKU Kenny Perry Invitational will have Fort Wayne teeing off at 9:50 a.m. ET off hole No. 1.
