Fort Wayne Edges Host Purple Aces At Evansville Invite

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Fort Wayne men's cross country ran at the University of Evansville Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 15) morning. The event was scored as a head-to-head competition against Evansville with the Mastodons defeating the host Purple Aces 15 to 49.
Fort Wayne freshman Sam Williamson had the best performance in the 8K event with a time of 25:39.2. Sophomore Logan Kitchen followed in second with 25:52.9. Bret Unger took third (26:36.9). Gabe O'Keefe (26:50.9) and Alex Barton (27:07.4) followed to round out the top five spots. Robert Peck (27:12.0) was sixth and Connor Shaffer (27:42.3) was eighth.
Nathan Clary (28:09.8) and Austin Rockstroh (29:47.1) rounded out Fort Wayne's entrants.
Saturday's meet was the final for the 'Dons before the Summit League Championship on Oct. 29 in Macomb, Illinois.
