‘Dons Earn Fifth At Summit League Men’s Cross Country Championship

MACOMB, Ill. – The Fort Wayne men's cross country team earned fifth place at the 2016 Summit League Championship on Saturday (Oct. 29) afternoon. The Mastodons recorded a score of 138. Western Illinois hosted the 8K event at Spring Lake Park.
Fort Wayne was led by Sam Williamson. He took 23rd thanks to a run of 26:29.8. Bret Unger placed 28th (27:01.5) with Gabe O'Keefe (27:14.2) in 31st and Robert Peck (27:28.1) in 33rd.. Alex Barton finished in 35th (27:39.2). Logan Kitchen ran a time of 28:00.3 for 38th. Connor Shaffer took 41st (28:09.7).
Nathan Clary (28:42.5) and Austin Rockstroh (29:05.2) also ran for the Mastodons, taking 45th and 48th, respectively.
The 'Dons finished seven points behind fourth place South Dakota who recorded a score of 131.
South Dakota State won the team title with a score of 25.
