CHARLESTON, Ill. – Fort Wayne men's soccer fell 1-0 on Sunday (Oct. 23) afternoon at Eastern Illinois in a Summit League match.
The difference in the game was a Panther goal in the 76th minute. Alex Castaneda broke open and finished outside the box for the tally. Marcus Menniti had the assist on the goal.
The Mastodons out-shot the Panthers 13-7 and held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. But couldn't put one past EIU keeper Mike Novotny who finished with six saves.
Oscar Uyamadu had three shots with one on goal. Zach Tom finished with two shots including one on goal.
EIU improves to 4-9-1 (1-3-0 Summit). Fort Wayne falls to 7-8-0 and an identical 1-3-0 in the Summit League. Fort Wayne welcomes Bowling Green to town on Tuesday (Oct. 25) evening for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
